The 2007 small grain harvest got under way here at the end of August with spring wheat. Crops were planted around the 10th of May. This year we had excellent quality with protein levels averaging 15.1% and weights averaging 60. In late may we received approximately five inches of rain in a relatively short time causing some wash out of seed from high areas and in the runoff areas. Although bushels were average for the farm we were hoping for more. Soybeans followed suit with an outstanding yield and quality.
